Hey gang, Phil here with another update on Amy and the four little ones…

Thankfully, Amy is doing well. On Saturday, January 13th, her doctor put a cerclage in her cervix. In other words, because her cervix was 70% open, he put four stitches in to close it up. The procedure went very well, and Amy is hanging in there. From here on out it’s a matter of fighting contractions and keeping pressure off the cervix. As a result, she spends her days and nights in a hospital bed with her rear-end elevated higher then her head. On Wednesday the 7th, she will be 23 weeks pregnant with four healthy little babies. Their heart-beats are strong, and they jump and move around quite a bit. Saturday night was the first time we could feel the babies kick and punch. It was amazing! If you don’t know their names yet, say hello to Jonah, Jordan, Hope, and Cedar.

Please keep in mind that there are three main things to pray for; 1) That Amy’s uterus stays relaxed and that her cervix stays strong. 2) That the babies stay inside for at least another two months. If they can make 30 weeks, they will have full lung development. Anything after that is an extended blessing and will keep the babies out of NICU that much longer. 3) That Amy doesn’t go crazy in the hospital! Last week the nurse told us that every woman eventually hits a wall and can’t take it any more… then, the babies usually come a week later. What that means is that the boredom of bed-rest, the uncomfortably of having multiples, and the overall pressure of the situation is more then a woman can take. If Amy can last, the babies will last.

Please also remember… care-packages are great, calls are wonderful, but nothing beats spending a couple hours with her at the hospital. The visits we’ve had so far have been the biggest blessing. If you want to visit, call her at the hospital phone, 310-449-0805, or just give her a ring on her cell phone, 909-534-0644.
